Hey there! Danny here.
The Wabi-Sabi zen design principle SHIZEN [自然] describes naturalness and free of pretense - we embrace this philosophy which underpins our obligation to set expectations about the product and remind folks that Smart Doll may not be the best choice for them - because we all have different needs.
I wrote two articles outlining various reasons why Smart Doll may not be your best choice:-
Reasons not to buy - Smart Doll Business Ethics
Reasons not to buy - Perfectly Imperfect
Folks who skip these articles could end up with buyer's remorse because they bought from a brand with business ethics or products that didn't meet their expectations.
My goal is not to sell as many dolls as possible to as many people as possible, and I want folks to choose products they believe in - even if it means they go for other brands.
Investing in a Smart Doll is not like buying shampoo off the shelf that you could give to a friend if it were a mistake.
Smart Dolls are handmade by a small team here in Tokyo - we can't make enough to go around, and I want to make sure that you really want one!
And if you really want one, I ask that you read the articles so that you don't end up with buyer's remorse.
If you do end up regretting the purchase, you could always give your expensive Smart Doll to that friend who will be happier than when you gave them shampoo ;-)
